🐾 Kāpiti's First

Commuter-friendly dog daycare in Kāpiti

Open early, open late — built around the Wellington commute. Drop your pup off on the way into the city, pick them up on the way home, and never feel rushed, stressed, or guilty again.

🕡 Open 6:30am – 6:30pm · Monday to Friday
The Commuter's Catch-22

Loving your job and your dog shouldn't be this hard

Daycare hours don't fit the commute

Most Kāpiti daycares open after the train's already gone and close before you've made it back over the hill. The maths just doesn't work.

😟

You feel rushed, guilty, and stuck

Sprinting from the office to make a 5:30 pickup. Apologising to your dog for the eleven hours alone. There has to be a better way.

🐶

Your dog deserves more than home alone

Dogs are pack animals. A long day in an empty house isn't a kindness — it's the only option, and it shouldn't be.

Why K9 Clubhouse

Built around the Kāpiti–Wellington commute

We get it. We've lived it.

K9 Clubhouse is Kāpiti's first commuter-friendly dog daycare — opening at 6:30am and closing at 6:30pm so the train, the M2, and the school run all line up.

Seven separated play zones, a structured day, daily report cards, and a team that genuinely loves dogs. Your pup gets a proper day. You get your day back.

Got Questions?

Frequently Barked Questions

🐾 What are your hours?

Our tails are wagging from 6:30am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday. That means you can drop your pup off on your way into Wellington and pick them up again on your way home — no need to rush. While you're at work, your dog will be having the best day ever with their furry friends.

🐶 Where is the Clubhouse?

We're at 8 Manchester Street, Paraparaumu — just a bone's throw from the Kāpiti Road interchange on State Highway 1. Super convenient for commuters heading into the city.

🐕 Can I just drop in?

Not quite. To keep every pup in the pack safe and happy, we can't accept unregistered drop-ins. Just register with us first, and we'll book your pup's drop-in and assessment properly so everything runs smooth as a well-trained sit-stay.

👀 Can I come have a sniff around?

You bet. Visitors are welcome between 5:00pm and 6:00pm any weekday for a grand tour of where all the tail-wagging happens. We keep the gates closed during the day so the pack stays calm while they're playing and napping, but after 5pm we love showing pet parents around the Clubhouse.

🐩 How do you separate the pack?

K9 Clubhouse has seven separate play areas and groups dogs by play style rather than size alone. The morning sniff sets the day's groupings, our two-legged pack members watch closely throughout the day, and any dog who's overwhelmed gets moved to a calmer group. Pocket rockets run with the big dogs; gentle giants stroll with the seniors.

🐾 What does a day at K9 Clubhouse look like?

A day at K9 Clubhouse starts with morning zoomies and friend time, runs through enrichment games and a midday nap, and finishes with afternoon play before pickup. We have indoor and outdoor play spaces, seven zones grouped by play style, and cozy crates for quiet time — all supervised by our two-legged pack members.

🦴 Do you take all kinds of dogs?

Absolutely. Big or small, shy or social — every dog is welcome at the Clubhouse. Before joining, we'll do a quick meet-and-sniff assessment to make sure your pup is comfortable and matched with the right playmates. Safety and happy tails come first.

Sadly, there are some breeds we can't accept:

  • Brazilian Fila
  • Dogo Argentino
  • Japanese Tosa
  • Perro de Presa Canario
  • American Pit Bull Terrier

And if at any stage we feel a dog isn't fitting in with the pack, we'll have a friendly chat with the pet parents and figure out the best options together.

✂️ Does my dog need to be neutered?

Here at the Clubhouse, we welcome all members of the pack — unneutered dogs included. We believe every dog deserves a chance to join the fun.

However, sometimes those extra hormones can make a dog feel a bit too 'spirited'. If a dog starts to get a little over-excited, finds it hard to listen to the pack leaders, or starts causing a stir among their furry friends, we'll need to sit down for a human-to-human chat. Together, we'll figure out the best next steps, which might mean taking a break from the pack until they've been neutered or finding another way to keep the vibes chill.

A note for the ladies: if your dog is 'on heat', she'll need to take a little staycation at home. For the safety and harmony of the whole pack, she must stay away from the facility during that time and wait at least one full week after it's finished before returning to play.

🎒 What does my dog need to bring?

Just your dog and their leash — and make sure they're wearing a collar (not just a harness, since we slip those off once inside). We provide water, toys, treats, and comfy rest areas. If your pup has a special diet, you can bring their lunch — we'll make sure it's served just the way they like it.

🚗 Do you pick up my pup?

Sorry, no chauffeur service — your pup will need to make their own way to the Clubhouse. But don't worry, we're waiting at the door with wagging tails, open arms, and a fun game to kick off their day.

👥 What's your dog-to-staff ratio?

We follow SPCA best-practice guidelines, which means one caring two-legged pack member for every 15 four-legged friends. Every pup gets plenty of attention, supervision, and love throughout the day.

📋 How do I sign up my pup?

Easy. Just register your interest to give the K9 Clubhouse crew a friendly first woof. As soon as that comes through, we'll reach out to grab a few more details about your pup and get their full sign-up sorted. After that, you're officially part of the pack — ready for smooth drop-offs and happy, tuckered-out pups.

💉 What jabs does my dog need to hang at the Clubhouse?

To help keep all our furballs happy and healthy, we require every dog to be up to date with the following vaccinations. Send us a copy of your vet documentation so we can make sure everyone stays safe while having fun:

  1. Bordetella (Kennel Cough)
  2. DHLPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus)

We strongly recommend Leptospirosis vaccination too — it's not currently required, but it's well worth a chat with your vet given how common Lepto exposure is in this part of the country.
